On May 22, 2024, an article released by Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) discussed an update about the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge Project. The project has now received its P64-billion financing from Beijing-based Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and is now set to go under construction this year.
The 32-kilometer (km) inter-island bridge starts from Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan, crosses Manila Bay, Corregidor Islands, and ends at Barangay Timalan in Naic, Cavite. The bridge aims to reduce travel time between the two provinces from 5 hours to 1.5 hours and designed to have energy-efficient streetlights and climate-resilient bridge alert systems.
Aside from reducing the travel time, let’s discuss what are the benefits the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge could bring to the citizens of Bataan.
